Leapfrog Smiles Campaign Update

Category Corporate Social Responsibility

Every three minutes, a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate, and is often unable to eat, speak, socialise or smile. These debilitating disabilities can be corrected with surgeries lasting as little as 45 minutes, enabling these children to lead normal lives, with beautiful smiles.

Established in 1982, Operation Smile is now active in 60 countries worldwide, where it changes lives with the help of volunteer medical personnel and donations from around the world.

In less than 5 months, since the commencement of their chosen CSI campaign (Leapfrog Smiles: To the Power of 10), the Group has managed to collectively secure R160 505.00 for this worthy cause in partnership with the various Leapfrog Branches, Miles for Smiles ambassador and extreme adventurer David Grier, Cipla Foundation South Africa and Operation Smile South Africa.

It was therefore an immensely proud moment to hand over the first amount of the collective funds raised by Leapfrog Property Group’s offices and agents on Thursday, 15 June 2017 at Cipla South Africa’s offices in Bellville.

’’From the onset, the goal was for all of our branches to get involved and to raise funds by hosting various fundraisers, whilst simultaneously feeding back and reaching into their own respective communities’’, says CEO, Bruce Swain.

“This is also where the idea of the ‘’Power of 10’’ was birthed from: Collectively, between like-minded partners, community members and sponsors, we are able to achieve so much more than in and through our own efforts.

The creativity and passion that have gone into all of the fundraising initiatives by the offices to date, has left us proud to be part of this campaign. Funds have been raised by means of golf days (Milnerton and Durbanville), cupcake sales (Richards Bay), lucky raffle draws (Moreleta Park & Pretoria East Rentals, and Table View), a training day with top MMA fighters (Johannesburg North East), a community initiative partnership with the likes of Parents Lobbying for Active Youth (Langebaan) and even a road race (Gordon’s Bay).’’
