Proxies in sectional title scheme general meetings
Category Advice
Owners of units in sectional title schemes are generally encouraged to participate and involve themselves in the management of a scheme. As a first step in this direction, attending and voting at general meetings are imperative.
Attendance and voting at these meetings can be done either personally or by proxy (representative). In this regard, Management Rule 67 allows an owner to appoint a proxy, provided it is done in writing and handed to the chairman before commencement of the meeting.
Only an owner (or his duly appointed agent) can appoint a proxy and, apart from the managing agent, its employees or any of the body corporate’s employees, anyone can be appointed as proxy.
